This is the Kaithari double mundu in a broad lavender kara the colour of jacaranda in full bloom, held on each edge by a precise line of kasavu that catches the light without competing with it. The border sits between lilac and soft violet depending on how the day falls, which means he reads differently at a morning Onam ritual than he does at an evening gathering, and correctly at both.
Four metres of fine ivory handloom cotton. He drapes with the weight and ease that only a double mundu has — gathered, unhurried, completely at home.
This is the mundu for the man who is comfortable wearing something unexpected. Pair with a crisp ivory or white kurta and let the lavender at the hem be the one considered choice of the day.
