On a body of pure off-white handloom cotton, the border plays: Tharanga — the dancing aqua of a shallow lagoon. Nilavinte — soft purple like dusk over the hills. Mauve, warm and quietly modern between them. And threading it all together, a fine line of gold kasavu that makes the whole border shimmer when it moves.
She is not trying to be a traditional saree. She knows exactly what she is.
