Same conviction. More border.

Maya is Priya's bolder sister. Same ivory handloom cotton body, same jet black border — but wider. At 9cm, the black makes a statement that leaves no room for interpretation. She is not asking for your attention. She already has it.

Where Priya whispers, Maya declares.

Everything else is the same — the clean ivory body, the fluid handloom drape, the versatility that takes her from temple to terrace without changing a single thing. Only the border width shifts, and with it, the entire energy of the saree.

Choose Priya if you want understated. Choose Maya if you've decided you're done being understated.

Pair her with antique silver, bold gold, or nothing at all. She needs no help.

Handwoven in Kerala. One piece only. Bolder by design.

The Details

Fabric: 100% handloom cotton

Body: Ivory (Vella) — clean, fluid, plain

Border: 9cm jet black (Krishnapaksham) — broad, graphic, commanding

Compare with: Priya — same saree, 7cm border

Pallu: Plain ivory with broad black border

Running blouse piece: Included

Styling note: Black blouse for monochrome. Ivory for softness. Jewel tone for drama. Antique silver or bold gold — both work.

Authenticity: Single handwoven piece — not mill-made, not power-loom

Care

These sarees are made to last. Here's how to help them age beautifully.
Handloom cotton develops a patina with time — the fabric softens, the drape becomes more fluid, the colours settle into something richer and more personal than the day it arrived. This is not wear. This is the saree becoming yours.
First wash: Dry clean only, to set the kasavu and protect the weave.
Thereafter: Hand wash gently in cold water with a mild, colour-safe detergent. Do not wring — press the water out gently and lay flat or hang in shade to dry. Never direct sunlight, which fades the kasavu over time.
Storage: Fold along different lines each time to prevent permanent crease marks. Store wrapped in a soft muslin or cotton cloth — never plastic, which traps moisture. A small piece of dried neem or lavender keeps moths away naturally.
Ironing: Low heat, inside out. A pressing cloth between the iron and the kasavu border protects the gold.
